IFE-STARFIRE Winter School

We are delighted to announce the inaugural IFE-STARFIRE Winter School, taking place December
15–19, 2025 at UCLA. This intensive, week-long program will bring together students, researchers,
and professionals for in-depth training, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions in the
field of inertial fusion energy (IFE) and related advanced research topics. As the field of IFE
experiences renewed momentum, this winter school provides a unique forum to explore the latest
advancements in:

• Target physics and laser-plasma interactions
• High-energy-density science and modeling
• Fusion driver technologies and systems
• Reactor design concepts and materials challenges
• National and international perspectives on the future of IFE

The Winter School will feature lectures by leading experts, hands-on computational workshops, and interactive discussions on technical and career-related topics. We aim to foster a dynamic learning environment and build a strong, interdisciplinary community around the IFE-STAR initiative.

We encourage applications from undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with an interest in fusion science and technology.
